Comic TRIP!

Aaaaaaaand now for another update on this year’s Project 365….

Day 89 (2012-03-29) ~ Every spring in Seattle, the trees come alive…. What?—No, no, not the blossoms, silly! I'm talking about the bees! In Seattle, where I lived most of my life, the trees BUZZ like electric fences in the spring because there are so many bees. I live in Chicago now. This is my second spring here, and while I was all up close and personal with the flowering trees at the park, it suddenly dawned on me.... where are all the bees?!?! The park was utterly silent. No buzzing bees at all. Weird. I never noticed that before. I mean, I know there have to be bees around here somewhere, because we grew a slew of strawberries last summer.... but I never saw a single bee visiting the plants. The bees here must be sneaky!

Day 90 (2012-03-30)
~ The 5th in my 80's Strawberry Shortcake Doll series. Raspberry Tart.

Day 91 (2012-03-31)
~ Scope, Wednesday, and I took a trip out of town last weekend. Since Wednesday will be learning to drive soon, she sat up front with Scope so he could give her some driving tips on the way. I sat in the backseat the whole four hour drive with Fernando Von Bakonstein to keep me company. It's silly, I know, but of all the pictures I took that day, this one is my favorite! :-P

Day 92 (2012-04-01)
~ While out of town last weekend, Wednesday and I went into a cute little shop with Scope’s mom where I saw this lamp (of sorts) which I thought was gorgeous. A glass jar with illuminated cherry blossoms and pussy willows! So beautiful! Unfortunately, the price tag was NOT beautiful at all. It was ugly, ugly, UGLY! So, I settled for a picture of the lamp instead. :-)

Day 93 (2012-04-02)
~ Comic TRIP! Just an experiment going on here featuring some comic book pages and my camera set on BULB. I swiveled the camera across the scattered pages during the exposure just to see what sort of effects I could get. This was my favorite one.

For the curious: those pages aren't from a real comic book, but actually props that were used in a 2008 American Idol “Tainted Love” Ford commercial featuring David Cook, Jason Castro, etc. The pages are AWESOME. I have several of them, and have the two best of the bunch framed in my hallway. Pretty cool, huh?! Here’s the Ford commercial which features these comics….

Day 94 (2012-04-03)
~ Scope saw this car from the train on his way home from work and came running home to tell me about it. We got in our car and went back to find it, take pictures, and giggle. The car seems to be advertising a tattoo shop. Not to be mean, but there's NO WAY that I would get a tattoo from someone who wields a paintbrush like THIS!! Wow.

And, there! I’m about 25% of the way through the project so far. More on the way soon!

Tuesday’s treadmill tracks…. and more

I love my iPod. Love. Love. LOVE. I know I’ve said this before, but it’s worth repeating. I love my iPod like it’s my child. My short, squat, shiny, teal-colored child who gets lost in my purse and sings kickbutt songs in my ears, making my workouts freakin’ joyous, okay?

*le sigh*

When I’m on my walks, I put my iPod on shuffle. I like surprises. I like not knowing which song might pop up next. Right now there are over 800 songs on there, so there’s really no way to guess what I’ll be hearing. Here’s what my iPod served up for me during my 7 mile walk yesterday. Here’s the latest update on my Project 365:

Day 28 (2012-01-28) ~ My hubba hubba hubby, Scope, tried to write my name with a flashlight in the dark! Awwwwwwwwwwwwww. :-)

Day 29 (2012-01-29) ~ I was playing around with oil pastels, a macro lens and Picnik's gooify editing tool. I think I kind of like the way it turned out!

Day 30 (2012-01-30) ~ And, well, I guess I figured it was time for a self portrait.

Upon further inspection, it may also be time for a haircut.

The Unlikely Ultimate Treadmill Soundtrack

I walk on my treadmill everyday. Or I try to walk on my treadmill everyday. Admittedly, some days the motivation just isn’t there. Poof!—it’s just gone. Like a bad dog that dug its way out under the freaking backyard fence.

Gah!

On those days I go to the local park and walk around it looking for my lost motivation. (“Here Motivation, Motivation!”….) But even then, sometimes it just isn’t gelling. And that makes the walk seem to take foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

*sigh*

And then there are days where I love walking on my treadmill; where the walk is easy, fun, and seems to take no time at all; where I’m so into it there is absolutely nowhere else I’d rather be; and where I honestly do not want to stop. Total polar opposite. Odd. And I think today I’ve finally figured out why….

My I-pod.

I put my I-pod on shuffle every time I walk, and that way (*attempting a Forrest Gump accent*) life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get (*end Forrest Gump accent*).

I have almost 1000 songs on my I-pod and I like not knowing which song I’m going to hear next. If I know what’s coming next I tend to get bored. And nothing assassinates a workout faster than boredom. Yet, sometimes, I don’t know, the songs don’t seem to shuffle right; they don’t mix well with each other; they just feel wrong and I get annoyed with them and start skipping them all.

Skip-skip-skip-skip….

I’ve had days where I skip like 50 songs in a row, and once I get in that mode, all 1000 songs are doomed—NONE of them will feel right; I’ll HATE them all! And in bitter disgust, my walk comes to a grinding halt.

So pitiful.

But the exact opposite thing happened today. All the songs were PERFECT. Each one was better than the next. And some of these songs weren’t even my favorites, yet they all seemed to be holding hands in a magic musical séance together to create this phenomenal energy in the room and, thus, it was a FABULOUS workout!

I walked over four miles and every single freaking step of it was blissful! :-)

*le sigh*

And now I’m going to confess my musical shame share the list of the 21 songs that made up my Blissful Treadmill Walk Soundtrack. Enjoy:

1. Holiday – Allison Iraheta
2. Hey Baby – No Doubt

3. Get Your Hands Off My Woman – The Darkness
4. Love or Torture – Blake Lewis
5. Come Back To Me – David Cook

6. Sit On My Face – Monty Python
7. Hot N Cold – Katy Perry
8. Let’s Just Fall In Love Again – Jason Castro
